I initially held only lufei.im, but later noticed lufei.me became available, so I went ahead and registered it. I've been holding both domain names ever since. .me allows ICP filing in mainland China, so I've consistently used it as my primary domain. Although I strongly dislike the domain filing process, having a registered domain does make things a bit more convenient.
By chance, I embarked on the path of becoming a software developer (though I actually believe in fate). As a developer, not having your own website feels almost "unqualified." Plus, compared to other social media platforms, a personal website offers far greater freedom and full ownership of your content. There are many thoughts I can share here—though some are set to "Only Visible to Myself" even on my own site. The layout and visual style of this website have constantly evolved over the years. Fortunately, the rise of AI helped me settle on a stable design style and secure data storage—unlike the early days, when every major redesign came with lost data. Plainly speaking, I've grown more capable and can finally handle data migration reliably; I shudder to think how inexperienced I used to be. Or maybe it wasn't a lack of ability back then, but rather that I didn't care enough about preserving data.
Truth be told, recording things deliberately can be a tedious chore. Unstructured notes are messy, and making them presentable requires organizing—and organizing means decreasing entropy, which violates the fundamental laws of the universe. Yet, to preserve a few memories, recording remains a necessary task.
And that, in short, is the story behind this website.
